Having worked for many years as a designer and copywriter, Marianne has in recent years headed in the direction of fiction writing. An MPhil in Creative Writing from Trinity College Dublin followed an honour’s degree in Visual Communications from the National College of Art and Design, leading to a period of songwriting, which catalyzed Lee’s experimentation with prose and short stories.

Her debut novel ‘A Quiet Tide’ has been described by the Irish Times as not only ‘historically accurate, and meticulously researched’ but ‘revealing an interiority of character that goes far beyond biographical facts.‘ Lee’s novel beautifully captures the quiet resistance by one noteworthy Irish woman against complacency. ‘A Quiet Tide’ is currently being adapted as a screenplay.
